On 21st July, the Aegis Trust welcomed President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo to the Kigali Genocide Memorial to pay respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and learn more about the history of Genocide.

In honour of all victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, President Sassou Nguesso laid a wreath on the burial place where 250,000 of those who were murdered have their final resting-place.

Government officials and diplomats who accompanied President Sassou Nguesso on his visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial included Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Vincent Biruta; Rwanda’s Minister of National Unity and Civic Engagement, Dr Bizimana Jean-Damascene, and Ambassador Guy Nestor Itou of Congo-Brazzaville in Rwanda.
