Biography

Oscar Twizerimana joined Aegis Trust in 2020 as Staff Psychosocial Support Officer after working as Vice Coordinator at One Dollar Campaign Complex, a home to former homeless orphans of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, where he provided them with career counselling and behaviour therapy, helping them in steps to trauma resilience.

Oscar is a graduate of Kigali Independent University with a Masters degree in International Development Studies. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rwanda. He is passionate in bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic and stressful experiences.

During his undergraduate studies, Oscar was elected by his peers from AERG (Association of Student Survivors of the Rwandan Genocide) to be the coordinator of the association for two years. At the same time he was the Adviser to the Guild President of the University of Rwanda Students Association.

A survivor of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Oscar is actively involved in the fight against genocidal ideology. In 2012 he volunteered in the Unity and Reconciliation for Peace Association as Co-Founder and President of Humura Association.
