Alice Wairimu Nderitu, Global President of the Aegis Trust’s Isōko Centre for Humanity, will be honoured with the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Human Rights Award at Moment Magazine’s 50th Anniversary Awards Benefit Gala on 16 November 2025 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

Nderitu, a globally respected peace negotiator and former UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, is being recognised for her steadfast commitment to justice, truth, and the prevention of identity-based violence.

“Throughout her long and illustrious career, Alice Wairimu Nderitu has been a voice of reason in an unreasonable world,” said Moment Editor-in-Chief Nadine Epstein. “We’re inspired by her courage to push back against bigotry and pursue peace at times when this bravery is more critical than ever.”

The gala celebrates Moment’s five decades of independent Jewish journalism, and will honour leaders in human rights, culture and public service. Other award recipients include Holocaust survivor Marian Ein Lewin, writer Letty Cottin Pogrebin, civil rights advocate Rabbi David Saperstein, Elisha Wiesel of the Elie Wiesel Foundation, and journalist Judy Woodruff. Actor and comedian Richard Kind will perform and receive the Moment Creativity Award, with Robert Siegel and Nadine Epstein serving as emcees.

Founded in 1975 by Elie Wiesel and Leonard Fein, Moment Magazine has grown into a multimedia platform reaching more than two million people each year, fostering nuanced conversations and resisting polarisation.

The Aegis Trust congratulates Alice Wairimu Nderitu on this well-deserved recognition of her leadership, courage and lifelong dedication to preventing mass atrocities and building peace.
