Aegis Rwanda-Kigali Memorial Centre

The Aegis Trust was invited by Kigali City Council to develop the Kigali Memorial Centre, which opened in April 2004 for the tenth anniversary of the 1994 genocide. Over 250,000 victims of the genocide are buried on this site.

Since its opening, the Centre has welcomed dignitaries and visitors from across the world, including Presidents, the Prime Ministers and Ministers of Tanzania, Uganda, Sweden and Belgium, the First Lady of USA, educators, international football teams and tourists from around the world. Every year, during the three-month commemoration of the genocide, survivors visit the Memorial to remember and mourn their families.

Visit the Aegis Trust website to watch films made to commemorate those who were brutally murdered in the genocide, along with films raising awareness of what happened in Rwanda.
