The Madariaga Foundation convened a distinguished panel of speakers to highlight current global efforts to prevent genocide and mass atrocities, and to suggest ways of improving preventive mechanisms operationally, highlighting the central role of the UN and the EU in this endeavour. This was the first public event to take place in the framework of the Madariaga Programme for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities, which seeks to engage EU Member States and Institutions in a common effort to address this major challenge of our time.
